Our client is a service delivery department providing the Queensland public with a single point of access to government transactions, information or referrals by electronic, telephone or face-to-face channels. They are responsible for the delivery of these services on behalf of other Government agencies.

The Role:

This specialist Contact Centre manages the Homeless Hotline, a 24 hour by 7 days per weekinformation and referral service for people who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness.The Homeless Hotline Professional Support Officer (PSO) team sits within the Contact Centre, which has two geographical locations in Brisbane.

  • Deliver telephone based human/community information and referral service to members of the public
  • Conduct appropriate initial assessment and provide referrals for clients into government and non-government support services
  • Maintain accurate client records
  • Develop referral networks to increase support options for clients
  • Team player who works with others towards a common goal
  • Provide information, training and coaching to other internal stakeholders

We have multiple roles available commencing on 14th April. An initial 6 month assignment with potential to go permanent based on business demands and your performance.

What You Will Bring:

  • Contact Centre experience will be an advantage - high level communication skills to build productive working relationships with stakeholders and clients
  • Must be resilient and have the ability to support and lead others in building resilience
  • Demonstrated understanding of the issues faced by people who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness
  • The ability to apply a framework to rapidly problem-solve complex client issues
  • Experience in coaching, training and provision of professional advice to others
  • Mandatory - a degree in Social Work or the Behavioural Sciences from a recognised tertiary institution is mandatory
  • Availability to work on a shift work roster

Iinitial training will be at Upper Mt Gravatt . Following training, staff can then chose to work at Upper Mt Gravatt or Zillmere offices


Due to the nature of the role you must be a Permanent Resident or Australian Citizen -we will not be progressing applications holding a Working Holiday Visa.
